Navi Norm – Your PCR Guide: ESTAINIUM Makes Sustainability Standards Navigable

As a global community dedicated to enabling carbon transparency across value chains, ESTAINIUM develops practical tools to help companies advance their decarbonization efforts. With Navi Norm – Your PCR Guide, we are proud to launch an open-access, interactive tool that maps the relationships between key sustainability standards and Product Category Rules (PCRs).

The tool was developed through collaboration between Siemens, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, and our Working Group 2—and is now publicly available to support the broader sustainability ecosystem.

A GPS for the Standards Landscape
Navi Norm is designed as a dynamic visual map that shows how major frameworks—such as ISO 14067, the PACT Framework, the Catena-X PCF Rulebook, and industry-specific PCRs—interconnect and reference each other. The physics-based layout places widely adopted, foundational standards at the center, while more specialized rules appear toward the edges.

The goal: reduce research time and simplify navigation through a highly fragmented standards environment.

Built for Real-World Use Cases
Navi Norm was designed with practical applications in mind:

• Automotive suppliers can trace connections from ISO 14067 to Catena-X PCF requirements for battery modules.
• Chemical companies can see how TfS guidelines, the WBCSD Pathfinder Framework, and relevant PCRs relate to one another.
• Sustainability consultants can quickly identify which standards apply based on industry and geography.
• Policy and regulatory teams can analyze how new legislation—such as the EU CBAM—connects to existing carbon accounting frameworks.
From Community Challenge to Open Solution
The idea for Navi Norm originated within ESTAINIUM’s Working Group 2, where members repeatedly encountered the same issue: navigating overlapping standards took far too much time. Rather than letting each organization solve the problem in isolation, the group joined forces to build a shared solution—and made it available to all.

Since launch, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Navi Norm helps users find the connections they need—without falling into research rabbit holes. This is exactly what ESTAINIUM strives for: collaborative tools that accelerate carbon transparency and collective progress.
