WHERE WE COME FROM
A group of organizations looked at the same problem — and acted.
In April of 2022, a group of organizations across industries came to the same conclusion: up to 90% of a product's CO₂ emissions come from the supply chain — hidden, fragmented, and far beyond any single company's control. At the same time, the lack of transparency across material flows and circularity was becoming increasingly visible.
So 15 of them did something about it. Founded during the COVID pandemic as one of Germany's early fully virtual association foundings — with many founding teams yet to meet in person — ESTAINIUM was built on a shared ambition: to create a place where people working on the same challenges could find each other, share what works (and what doesn't), and build real solutions together.
Today, ESTAINIUM is a growing community of corporations, SMEs, startups, and universities — united by the belief that sustainability, circularity, and profitability need to go hand in hand.
WHO WE ARE
The heart of ESTAINIUM

If you ask our members what ESTAINIUM really is, they won't start with the organizational chart. They'll tell you about the conversations that refused to end — about people arriving at 8am for breakfast on day two of the Members Meeting, still energized from discussions the night before that carried on late into the evening. Because they had finally found a room full of people who truly get it.
Sustainability managers, startup founders, engineers, legal experts, researchers, company directors — they all join to share, listen and work together. During presentations, in breaks, at dinner, in hotel lobbies, on the way home. Wherever there's space to think out loud.
They'll tell you about members who find creative ways forward — like the one who introduced circular economy principles that saved money first, earned the board's trust, and then used that trust to push even more impactful initiatives. Because the path to a more sustainable outcome often runs through economic viability.
ESTAINIUM is also the team behind the scenes — the people who organize every HUB session, every Expert Talk, every Members Meeting. Not because it's in the job description, but because those late-night conversations are where you really learn what members need.
So yes — ESTAINIUM is its members. And it's the people who wake up every day thinking about how to make this network matter. Meet the team →
VISION 2030
By 2030, ESTAINIUM will be Europe's reference for transparency, credibility, and innovation in managing climate and circularity information.
We have a vision for tomorrow — and the ambition to preserve the personal touch that defines ESTAINIUM, even as we grow.
Driving impact beyond compliance.
WHAT WE ARE — AND WHAT WE'RE NOT
A neutral, pre-competitive alliance.
No sales pitches, no vendor marketplaces, no industry lock-in. ESTAINIUM is a safe space for organizations that would normally compete to work together on something bigger.
Not a consulting firm. We don't do the work for you — we empower you to do it yourself, with others, for the long term.
Not a place where you need to have it all figured out. We learn from what works and what doesn't — and we share openly.
Not another compliance checkbox. We go beyond reporting requirements to connect you with people, knowledge, and projects that create real, measurable impact.
Not a lobbying group. We're neutral and pre-competitive — focused on solutions, not politics.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Here's what sets ESTAINIUM apart.
Planet & Profit
We don't believe you have to choose between sustainability and business success. Our members bring those worlds together — finding strategies that create environmental impact and economic value at the same time.
Most networks stop at knowledge exchange. We don't. Our Innovation Path takes a challenge from first conversation to community-validated concept to pilot project. When a member brings a problem to a HUB session, it doesn't just get discussed — it gets worked on.
From day one, every member is matched with a dedicated Companion — a personal guide who knows the network, understands your goals, and connects you with the right people and resources.
Our members come from manufacturing, technology, consulting, research, legal, and more. The best solutions to value chain challenges come from people who see the same problem from completely different angles.
Our formats, focus areas, and ways of working are shaped by what our members actually need — not by what looked good in a founding document three years ago.
